Petitenget Beach lies in Kerobokan Village, North Kuta District, Badung Regency. This beach is only 15 kilometers from Denpasar. It is about 30 minutes on driving from international airport Ngurah Rai. This incredible beach has white golden sandy beach with sun shines almost every day. Petitenget word itself connected with Pura Petitenget myth as it lies in the edge of the beach. Local people belief if this area was an eerie area before a pura built in this area. According to a local myth, there is a Resi named Dang Hyang Nirarta. Before he continues his way to Pura Uluwatu, Dang Hyang Nirarta met Batara Masceti. In the middle of their talk, they met Bhuta Ijo. Bhuta Ijo gave a duty to watch peti pecanangan (sirih container). Due to the high loyalty of Bhuta Ijo, he made everyone who enters this area being sick. Then people built Pura Petitenget that means eerie box. Since that time the beach also named Petitenget beach.
However this spooky story is not fit with the beach as it has beautiful scenery. People usually filled this beach at noon to watch beautiful sunset. The foreign tourists also use this beach to take a sun bath, surfing, and an afternoon walk. Some local people also held their religion ceremony here.
